Celebrating the season’s music

(DEC. 17)— The last full moon of the year happened on December 12, perfect for an open-air evening concert. The UP Symphony Orchestra (UPSO), UP’s official System-wide orchestra, held it’s second free Christmas concert “Liwanag ng Pasko sa Ka(Diliman): Musikang Handog ng Orkestra ng Bayan” at the University Amphitheater. The concert opened with UPSO’s rendition of Leroy Anderson’s A Christmas Festival, an arrangement of excerpts from various Christmas songs. (DIS. 12)— Pumanaw na si Professor Emeritus Teresita G. Maceda ng Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura (KAL) noong Dis. 11 sa edad na 70. Ginawaran si Maceda ng titulong Professor Emeritus noong Ene. 10, 2014. Siya ay nagsimulang maglingkod sa UP bilang instruktor mula Hun. 1, 1972 hanggang May. 31, 1973 at lumipat sa Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) upang magturo mula 1974 hanggang 1982. CHE has new dean

(DEC. 9)—Prof. Shirley Guevarra, PhD, of the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institution Management (HRIM) was appointed as the 14th dean of the College of Home Economics (CHE) effective Nov. 28. The UP Board of Regents approved Guevarra’s appointment at its 1349th meeting on Nov. 28. She will serve until Nov. 27, 2022. Guevarra earned her Master in Food Service Administration and PhD in Philippine Studies both from UP Diliman (UPD) in 2000 and 2011, respectively. (DEC. 9)—Among the 70 UP Artists from UP Diliman (UPD) who were awarded last Nov. 29 at the Asian Institute of Tourism Auditorium, the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) had the most number with 25. A Christmas street party

(DEC. 5)—The Pag-iilaw sa Pasko 2019 was only the beginning of the night’s festivities. The College of Human Kinetics held a street party at the Washington SyCip Garden of Native Trees behind the Carillon Plaza. The community celebration “Pailaw/Pasasalamat” was organized in honor of the UP varsity teams who participated in the first semester, especially the UP Men’s Basketball Team who won bronze in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 82. Christmas begins in UP

(DEC. 5)—It was a night of music and lights last Nov. 29 as UP Diliman (UPD) Pag-iilaw sa Pasko 2019, the annual ceremony where all the Christmas lights on campus are lit up for the first time, was held at the UP Carillon Plaza. Chilling after Pag-iilaw 2019

(DEC. 5) — The Christmas lights were switched on but the party just started. After the annual Pag-iilaw held on Nov. 29 at the UP Carillon Plaza, local bands We Got and Moonstar88 wowed the UP Diliman (UPD) community with a concert at the UP Washington Sycip Garden of Native Trees. Nominations for 2020 Gawad Tsanselor extended to Dec. 16

(Dec. 4) — Deadline for nominations to the 2020 Gawad Tsanselor has been extended to Dec. 16. Originally set on Dec. 2, Monday, the deadline for submission of nominations for the different 2020 Gawad Tsanselor categories has been moved to Dec. 16, Monday.
