CHED “Category A” Journals.
UP Diliman has six journals with a “Category A” rating from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). A CHED “Category A” journal is credited as an international level publication. It receives from CHED P200,000 per year during the effectivity of accreditation, and an endorsement for library subscription.
Humanities Diliman: A Journal on Philippine Humanities. An internationally-refereed journal for the humanities, which comes out semi-annually and published by the UP Diliman Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development.. An open-access journal, it is multilingual and both disciplinal and multi-disciplinary. Humanities Diliman is SCOPUS-indexed. It promotes scholarship in the arts and humanities in the Philippines, as well as international synergies, especially with scholars in Southeast Asia. Dr. Patrick F. Campos is its current editor-in-chief. (Category A-1, 2013 – 2015)
Kasarinlan: Philippine Journal of Third World Studies. An internationally-refereed journal published twice a year by the Third World Studies Center, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy. It provides a forum for critical and interdisciplinary perspectives on the Philippines and the Third World with special reference to political economy. (Category A-2, 2013 – 2015)
Philippine Humanities Review. Managed by the Publications Program of the College of Arts and Letters, the journal publishes scholarly, critical and analytical works on various aspects of Philippine culture, the arts and letters, as well as creative works in the broad field of the humanities. The Philippine Humanities Review is also available in e-book form (amazon.com, itunes.apple.com, barnesandnoble.com, and flipreads.com). Dr. Gonzalo Campoamor II is its current editor-in-chief. Plaridel: A Journal of Communication, Media and Society. First published in 2004 as a national journal of communication, it has since evolved to a more inclusive regional focus and has recently begun publishing papers from other Asian countries. Papers published include original research in different areas of media and communication studies in the Philippines and Asia. These can be qualitative or quantitative work in media effects, industry, political economy, subcultural practices, and journalism studies. Released as a regular bi-annual journal, Dr. Elena E. Pernia is its currently editor-in-chief. (Category A – 2, 2013 – 2015)
Science Diliman: A Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences. An internationally-refereed semi-annual journal of pure and applied sciences published by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development, its current editor-in-chief is Dr. Marco Nemesio Montaño. (Category A – 2, 2014 – 2016 )
Social Science Diliman. An internationally-refereed semi-annual journal for the social sciences published by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development. Asian Studies: Journal of Critical Perspective on Asia. An open-access, peer-reviewed academic journal published since 1963 by the Asian Center. One of the pioneering journals of its kind in Asia, Asian Studies offers a critical, multidisciplinary platform where scholars, practitioners, and activists can publish research that draws on the theories and perspectives from the social sciences, humanities, and/or cultural studies. Published twice a year, it features research articles, commentaries, reviews, literary works, and travel narratives.
Daluyan: Journal ng Wikang Filipino. Isang refereed journal na inaasahang mailathala dalawang beses kada taon. Ito ay monolingguwal sa Filipino at may layuning paunlarin ang pag-aaral at pananaliksik tungkol sa wika, panitikan at kulturang Filipino at pagyamanin ang diskurso sa iba’t ibang disiplina gamit ang wikang Filipino. (Daluyan: Journal ng Wikang Filipino. A refereed journal published twice a year. It is a monolingual journal in Filipino language and aims to develop the studies and researches on Filipino language, literature and culture, as well as enhance discourses in various disciplines using the Filipino language.)
Hukay. A refereed journal of the UP Archaeological Studies Program, it welcomes articles on the archaeology, ethnoarchaeology and heritage of the Asia and Pacific regions.
Journal in Urban and Regional Planning. A refereed journal of the UP School of Urban and Regional Planning, its articles aim to disseminate scholarly insights on prevailing issues shaping urban and rural systems to a wider audience. It is geared towards elevating the practice of urban and regional planning professionals; most especially those engaged in the local planning area. The journal accepts articles concerned with urban and regional planning and allied disciplines such as public works, transportation, real estate development, the environment—both built and natural; regardless of geographic context.
Philippine Management Review. An annual publication of the Cesar E. A. Virata School of Business, (VSB, formerly, College of Business Administration) it is a venue for research work done VSB. Outside contributions from other academics and from practitioners are published on a selective basis.
Philippine Review of Economics. Published twice a year (June and December) by the UP School of Economics and Philippine Economic Society, this is devoted to the publication of theoretical and empirical work in economic development. It welcomes papers about the Philippines and other developing countries. It is also a forum for research findings that show the relation of economics with other disciplines.
Philippine Social Sciences Review. A peer-reviewed journal of the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, it aims to promote the critical exchange of ideas and research findings in the social sciences and philosophy among the faculty, research staff and students of the CSSP, the Diliman academic community, as well as communities of scholars in other parts of the country and the world.
The Archive is the official journal of the Department of Linguistics, College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, University of the Philippines Diliman. The Regular Series of the journal serves as a peer-reviewed publication for original works dealing primarily but not exclusively with Philippine languages and dialects.

Diliman Gender Review
Ang Diliman Gender Review (DGR) ay upisyal na journal ng UP Diliman Gender Office (UPDGO) na inilalathala isang beses bawat taon. Bilang pagsasagawa ng mandato nitong gender mainstreaming, naglalathala ito ng mga pangkasariang pananaliksik, mapanlikhang sulatin, rebyu ng mga tesis, disertasyon, aklat, at produktong pangmidya. Layon nitong magtanghal at magpalaganap ng mga bagong kaalaman at mapalakas ang talastasang pangkasarian na maaaring gamitin sa gawaing pagtuturo, administrasyon at ekstensiyon. Umaambag ito sa layunin ng Unibersidad na maging mayabong ang gawaing pananaliksik at paglalathala sa usapin ng kasarian.
Diliman Review is one of the refereed journals of the College of Arts and Letters, the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy and the College of Science, University of the Philippines, Diliman.Diliman Review draws its contributors mainly from its own pool of UP scholars, creative writers and artists but also welcomes essays, creative works, reviews, forum/symposium papers from other scholars and artists.
Journal of English Studies and Comparative Literature
The Journal of English and Comparative Literature is published twice a year by the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of the Philippines Diliman. It welcomes articles on language, literature and culture using various theoretical perspectives.
Journal of Philippine Librarianship
The Journal of Philippine Librarianship publishes articles discussing issues, developments etc. from all fields in the area of library and information science, such as law librarianship, health and medical librarianship, information system, archival studies, children and young adult library services, management of library and information centers, history of the book, libraries and the evolution of the profession, philosophy, ethics, core competencies, legal framework and standards in information work, new and emerging technology and services, information storage and retrieval, collection management, cataloging and classification, indexing and abstracting, thesaurus construction, reference and access, reader services, and preservation and conservation of collections.

Kasarinlan: Philippine Journal of Third World Studies is an internationally refereed journal published twice a year. It provides a forum for critical and interdisciplinary perspectives on the Philippines and the Third World with special reference to political economy.
Kasarinlan is under the Journal Incentive Program of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), receiving a Journal Incubator grant, which aims to support “promising Philippine journals towards the path to meet the minimum generally accepted standars for Scopus/WoS-indexability” (CHED Memorandum Order 53, Series of 2016). Under the previous CHED journal accreditation program from 2009 to 2015, Kasarinlan maintained a Category A-2 (very good to excellent) rating.

Ang Lagda: Journal ng U.P. Departamento ng Filipino at Panitikan ng Pilipinas ay isang refereed journal na inilalathala dalawang beses kada taon ng DFPP, Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura, Unibersidad ng Pilipinas. Ito ay monolingguwal sa Filipino; maaaring maglathala sa rehiyonal na wika sa Pilipinas ngunit may lakip na salin sa pambansang wika. May layunin itong paunlarin ang pag-aaral at pananaliksik tungkol sa wika, panitikan, malikhaing pagsulat, at kulturang filipino at pagyamanin ang diskurso sa iba’t ibang disiplina gamit ang wikang Filipino at ibang wika sa Pilipinas.
Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature
Likhaan: The Journal of Contemporary Philippine Literature showcases the best of new and unpublished Philippine writing in English and Filipino. It is published annually by the UP Institute of Creative Writing. Likhaan is the only refereed literary journal in the country today.
Musika Jornal is a revival of the scholarly periodical that saw the publication of three issues during the incumbency of Dr. Jose Maceda as Chair of the Department of Asian Music in the late 1970s (77, 78, 79). Its maiden revival issue in December 2007 shall contain the proceedings of the international symposium on the “Theories of Performance in the Musics of Asia” that was held Feb. 27-28, 2007. Musika Jornal deals with music research and/or contemporary music in the Philippines and Southeast Asia.

The PHILIPPINE ENGINEERING JOURNAL serves as a national medium of exchange of technical information and dissemination of engineering knowledge through the publication of technical papers, technical notes, and research briefs.
Published by the U.P. Engineering Research and Development Foundation, Inc. for the National Engineering Center, the PHILIPPINE ENGINEERING JOURNAL is being distributed at reasonable rates to various government agencies, private industrial concerns, engineering schools, professional organizations, international entities and practitioners in the field of engineering.

Philippine Law Journal
The Philippine Law Journal was organized in 1914 by the first dean of the U.P. College of Law and at that time, it was the only English legal publication in the Orient. It is a student-run publication devoted to the promotion of legal research and the advancement of legal knowledge. It is edited by a student editorial board composed of select members of the sophomore, junior and senior classes of the U.P. College of Law.
Philippine Management Review
The Philippine Management Review is a peer-reviewed academic journal published annually by the Cesar E.A. Virata School of Business, University of the Philippines with international editorial advisory board and reviewers. It provides a forum for applied research on Philippine finance and management issues. The journal also encourages submission of studies featuring management problems and practices in the Asian region from other academics and practitioners. Accepted articles went through a double-blind refereeing process. Views and recommendations expressed in the articles are the sole responsibility of the respective authors.
The journal’s guidelines on publication ethics and malpractice statement are based on Elsevier policies and COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors. The journal is indexed in ABI Inform of Proquest LLC based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The PPJ was established in 1996 to “examine in depth contemporary key economic, social and political issues facing the country.” It was expected be “an authoritative journal for public policy guidance to be disseminated to other academic institutions, policy makers in government, the private business sector and non-government organizations.” The journal’s initial issue first saw print in the last quarter of 1997. PPJ thenbecame a bi-annual publication during the 2000s.
