UP Dance Ensemble wins at the 2014 Philippine National Games

Hernandez (JUN. 6)—The UP Dance Ensemble (UPDE) won two gold medals and a bronze at the 2014 Philippine National Games Cheerleading Championships (PNGCC) on May 25 at the Makati Coliseum. The PNGCC is an annual competition organized by the Philippine Olympic Committee and the Philippine Sports Commission. Bersales appointed as PSA head

Bersales, a professor at the UPD School of Statistics, was appointed by President Benigno Aquino III as the first National Statistician to head the newly-created Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). She assumed her post on Apr. 29. The PSA, created through Republic Act 10625, serves as the central statistical authority of the Philippine government on primary data collection. (JUN. 2)—“Science Diliman: A Journal of Pure and Applied Sciences (Science Diliman)”  (“Science Diliman”) Volume 26, Number 1 issue is now available. F. Landa Jocano to receive posthumous Dangal ng Haraya

Landa Jocano will receive the Dangal ng Haraya, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ (NCCA) highest honor, on May 22 at the NCCA Building in Manila. UP SLIS garners librarian licensure 100% passing rate

Jadloc (MAY 15)—It was a 100 percent passing rate for the UP School of Library and Information Studies (UPSLIS) graduates who took the Librarian Licensure Examinations (LLE) last April 23 and 24, with three ranking among the top 10 LLE passers. UPSLIS’ Gideon E. Cascolan Jr. placed second in the overall ranking of passers with a rating of 85.15 percent, while Jeseliza A. Geroca (83.65%) came in fourth place and Maria Criselda C.
