Outdoor exercise equipment installed in UP Diliman
(JAN. 5)—Forty units of outdoor exercise equipment are now being installed in key locations around UP Diliman to help faculty, staff and students keep fit and healthy.
Thirteen units, comprising the arm push-up, elliptical machine, single seesaw and double seesaw, can now be found at the Department of Military Science and Tactics Complex and the College of Science Complex.
The rest of the equipment will eventually be installed at the children’s playground near the PAUW-UP Child Study Center, the College of Human Kinetics-Multi Purpose Training Park and near dormitories.

Aninag 2015 lights UP Diliman
(DEC. 28)—The traditional pag-iilaw ceremony where the Christmas decorations of major buildings on campus are lit was given a colorful twist last Nov. 27 when the entire UPD community joined in recreating a Kapampangan Christmas tradition.
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, Lubenas “consists of street processions held for nine straight nights for the Missa de Gallo. Candle-lit, white paper lanterns shaped into crosses, stars, fishes, angels and sheep illuminate the images of patron saints of villages during the processions.”

Tanglaw: The UP Filipiniana Dance Group concert
In celebration of its 80th anniversary, the UP Filipiniana Dance Group (UPFDG) held “Tanglaw,” a homecoming Christmas concert, on Dec. 11 at the University Theater. The concert was part of the Yuletide activities in UP Diliman (UPD) that carried the theme, “Dingas 2015: Adhikaing Diliman, Adhikaing Bayan.”
Featuring the group’s past and current members and artistic directors, “Tanglaw” (Torch) were in two parts: “Indayog ng Kapuluan” (dances of the islands) and “Tala-arawan” (diary). “Tanglaw,” in Filipino culture, serves as a guiding light leading people towards the right direction.

UPD Lantern Parade 2015: A party in the rain

(DEC. 23)—This year’s Lantern Parade at UP Diliman (UPD) was literally wet due to the torrential rains brought by Typhoon Nona (international name: Melor) to Metro Manila and other parts of the Philippines.

3 CAL faculty win 34th National Book Awards
(DEC.10)—This year, three UP Diliman College of Arts and Letters (UPD CAL) faculty, namely, Professors J. Neil Garcia, Norma A. Respicio and Galileo Zafra, won the 34th National Book Awards (NBA) for their publications in 2014.
The awarding ceremony was held Dec. 5 at the Old Senate Session Hall, Museum of Fine Arts, National Museum.
The award is given yearly by the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and Manila Critics Circle (MCC) to the best books written, designed and published in the country.
