In celebration of Fidel Nemenzo’s selection as the next UP Diliman Chancellor, a printable copy of Ibong Malaya, the 2020 desk calendar is now available for download.
The 2020 institutional gift from the Office of the Chancellor and the UP Diliman Information Office for administrative staff, the calendar features photos of birds that can be found in the UPD campus throughout the year.
The photos were generously provided by the College of Human Kinetics’s Prof. Norberto Madrigal.

Nemenzo is new UPD Chancellor
(FEB. 3)—Prof. Fidel G. Nemenzo, DSc of the College of Science Institute of Mathematics is UP Diliman’s 11th Chancellor.
UP President Danilo Concepcion made the announcement in front of a cheering crowd after the 1350th meeting of the Board of Regents on Feb. 3 at Quezon Hall.

(JAN. 29)—The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Development (OVCRD) opened 2020 with a conference highlighting UPD researches, creative and extension outputs.

Rye, 93
(JAN. 7)—Former Asian Center (AC) professor and dean Ajit Singh Rye passed away on Jan. 2. He was 93.
Rye served as AC dean from 1985 to 1991 where he was a professor of South Asian Studies, particularly Indian Studies. He served as Officer for Student Relations (1970-1971), Overseer of the Library Museum (1973), Program Development Associate (1978), Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Secretary (1980) and Director of the Asian Studies Program (1982).

UPD Lantern Parade 2019: Pumailanlang
(DEC. 16)—Rain or shine, the Lantern Parade 2019, the most anticipated Christmas event in UP Diliman (UPD), soared high befitting this year’s theme “Pumailanlang.” For about 6 hours.
Around 2,500 contingents and spectators converged at the Oblation Plaza and Academic Oval as early as 4 p.m. to participate and witness the parade of colorful gigantic floats and twinkling lanterns. The event officially started at 5:30 p.m. and culminated at the University Amphitheater.
