(NOV 28)—UP Diliman was the top performing school in the November 2019 Chemical Engineer Licensure Examinations with five of the College of Engineering Department of Chemical Engineering’s (COE-DCE) graduates making it to the top 10. All 119 COE-DCE graduates passed on their first try, giving UPD a 100 percent passing rate and making it number 1 of the top performing schools (those with 50 or more examinees and with at least 80% passing percentage). Stat has new dean

(NOV. 13)—Prof. Joseph Ryan G. Lansangan, PhD is the 10th dean of the UP Diliman (UPD) School of Statistics (Stat). The University of the Philippines Board of Regents approved Lansangan’s appointment at its special meeting on Oct. 11. Lansanga, who succeeded Prof. Claire Dennis S. Mapa, PhD, will serve until Oct. 10, 2022. (OCT. 29)—UP Diliman ranked first in the October 2019 Geodetic Engineer Licensure Examination, with six of its graduates making it to the top 10. UPD Met Eng’g 100% in licensures

(OCT. 21)—Every graduate the UP Diliman College of Engineering Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (UPD-DMMME) fielded in the October 2019 Metallurgical Engineer Licensure Examination passed, giving the University a 100 percent passing rate, with six examinees getting into the top 10. The top board passers are Bryan Patrick Carrasco (2nd place, 83.25%), Kielvin Jon Miguel (3rd, 82.454%), Regan Abram Leonardo (4th, 81.9%), Ninna Joyce Delantar (5th, 81.8%), Sergi Bantay (7th, 81.05%) and Karl Justine Abang (8th, 80.70%). (OCT. 8)— Professor Emeritus Antonio Ocampo Mabesa passed away on Friday night, Oct. 4. He was 84. Popularly known as Tony Mabesa, he was dubbed as the “Lion of the Theater” by columnist Amadis Ma. Guerrero. He was a notable director, educator and actor having directed over 170 productions staged locally and internationally. (SEPT. 18)—UP Diliman (UPD) ranked first among the top performing schools in the September 2019 Librarian Licensure Examination as the graduates of the School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) placed in five of the top 10 spots. (AUG. 13)—Rachel Angela Penuliar Ferrer, a graduate from the UP Diliman College of Engineering Department of Mining, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (DMMME) topped the nationwide August 2019 Mining Engineer Licensure Examinations held on Aug. 8 with a 91.20 percent rating. Two other UPD DMMME graduates made it to the Top 10. Gian Carlo Masagca Seblos placed second (90.50%) while Francisco Carpio Raymundo placed fifth (89.85%).
