Marciano conferred Hokudai’s honorary degree

Joel Joseph S. Marciano Jr., PhD of the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Engineering (COE) was recently conferred an honorary doctorate degree by the Hokkaido University (Hokudai) for his significant contributions to science and technology in the Philippines, particularly to the development of microsatellites for scientific earth observation. De Ungria awarded Rotary Golden Wheel

For her noteworthy research work in forensic DNA technology, Maria Corazon A. de Ungria, PhD, recently received the Rotary Golden Wheel Award for Supporting Education. Her research in forensic DNA technology served as a tool for human identification in criminal investigation, disaster victim identification, and in resolving parentage disputes.  De Ungria. “Ito’y bahagi ng ating bisyon na magkaroon ng isang modelong primary health facility sa UP Diliman (UPD) na nagbibigay ng maayos na serbisyo sa ating komunidad.” Ito ang sinabi ni Tsanselor Fidel R. Nemenzo sa naganap na pagpapasinaya ng bagong-ayos na UP Health Service (UPHS) noong Enero 27. Nagkaroon ng mga renobasyon sa UPHS upang higit na mapaglingkuran ang mga guro, kawani, at mag-aaral ng UPD, pati na ang mga dependent ng mga empleyado, at maging ang mga nakatira sa mga malalapit na komunidad.

Hope through images

Hope springs eternal.  This was the theme of the art exhibit, Soon There Will Be Flowers, that showcased 11 recent abstract works of acrylic on paper and canvas. Over 130 ongoing and/or completed research from all seven UP Diliman (UPD) College of Engineering (COE) departments were presented to the public and stakeholders at the 2023 COE Professorial Chair Colloquium with the theme, Engineering Research and Development Towards the Sustainable Development Goals. UPD awarded 2022 ARTA RCS Silver

UP Diliman (UPD) received from the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) the Silver Award of the 2022 ARTA Report Card Survey (RCS) for garnering a very satisfactory rating in the RCS last year. The Silver Award was the highest recognition ARTA gave in 2022 since no government agency scored an excellent rating, which is equivalent to a Gold Award.
