Statement of the Office of the UP Diliman Chancellor’s on the Latest UPD COVID-19 Cases

Dear UP Diliman Community, As of June 26, two more frontliners tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total of cases to 16. They include health, laboratory and security personnel who were assigned at the Kanlungang Palma and the UP Health Service. Following protocols, they are now isolated, and active contact tracing is ongoing. This is a pressing issue for UP Diliman, and I would like to assure the community that we are implementing stricter infection control measures to contain the outbreak and stabilize these facilities. UPD-Bulletin-2020-24 We regret to inform the UPD Community that as of 5 p.m. today, Jun. 25, 2020, seven new frontliners from Kanlungang Palma and the UP Health Service (UPHS) were found positive with COVID-19, bringing the total to 14 asymptomatic cases including the seven reported last Jun. 23. All of the new cases have been isolated and there is continuous contact tracing by the UPHS Public Health Unit. CAL professorial lecturer is 2019 NRCP awardee

Lucero, PhD, a professorial lecturer at UP College of Arts and Letters (CAL), is one of the 10 NRCP Achievement Awardees for 2019 of the Department of Science and Technology-National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP). Seven frontliners of Kanlungang Palma (KP) and UP Health Service (UPHS) tested positive for COVID-19. They were isolated and UPHS traced their contacts. ASFA gives back

(JUN. 19)—A fundraising project was launched on Jun. 15 to benefit communities near the UP College of Fine Arts (CFA). Dubbed as “#TulongSining,” the project is an initiative of Sining Fine Art (ASFA), an affiliate organization of the university-wide cultural national-democratic mass organization Alay Sining. (JUN. 19)—Close to 4,000 reflective sashes were recently distributed to bikers for free by the UP Mountaineers through its “KitaKa” Project that aims to help make bikers more visible to other motorists especially in high-traffic areas.
