Florendo, new CIDE president

Raquel B. Florendo, PhD, an interior design professor at the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Home Economics (CHE) has been elected as the new president of the Council of Interior Design Educators (CIDE) in July 2022. A registered professional interior designer since 1994, Florendo is currently a member of the Commission on Higher Education-National Capital Region’s (CHED-NCR) quality assessment team in the area of architecture, fine arts and interior design, the Professional Regulation Commission’s (PRC) Board of Interior Design for Continuing Professional Education/Development, and the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID).

F2F grad returns in 2022

The 111th General Commencement Exercises of UP Diliman (UPD) saw the return of face-to-face attendance after two years of virtual commencement exercises since the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020. Students were allowed to attend the ceremony in person, strictly observing health and safety protocols. Only key participants and essential staff were allowed to attend with the graduates and their guests (only one guest per graduate). Creating an inclusive and safe UPD

UP Diliman (UPD) as everyone’s safe space.  It is the intention of UPD to be an inclusive, diverse, nurturing, and safe space that respects the human rights of all its constituents, especially its students.  As such, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) issued a directive that recognizes the inclusion of and affirms transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC) students. Memorandum No. OVCAA-MTTP 21-029 recommends the UP Center for Women’s and Gender Studies (UPCWGS) guidelines on affirming TGNC students’ names, pronouns, and titles.
