OC Foyer exhibit features UP Fighting Maroons

(SEPT. 7)—To usher in UAAP Season 78 which UP is hosting, a photo exhibit featuring UP’s varsity teams—collectively known as the UP Fighting Maroons—is now open to the public at the Office of the Chancellor Foyer.
Comprising 33 photos in 20 frames, the two-part exhibit depicts the teams who are competing in UAAP Season 78.
For the first semester, the exhibit shows the groups in the major sporting events of the first semester: badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, judo, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo (kyorugi)…

UPD 100% passing in the nutrition-dietitian exam
(SEPT. 2)– Graduates of the UP Diliman College of Home Economics’ Community Nutrition program got a 100 percent passing rate in the Aug. 20-21 Nutritionist-Dietitian Licensure Examination.
All 36 UPD examinees passed the examination, with four ranking among the top 10. Harlyn Jan B. Espela and Lurence Anne J. Pañer placed fourth with a rating of 83.45 percent, while Lindsley L. Go (83.35%) and Reginna Emiliene C. Lat (83.25%) came in fifth and sixth place, respectively.

UPD team to create first Filipino micro-satellite

A team of UP Diliman (UPD) experts was tapped by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to steer the Philippines into its space age.
The DOST, through the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD), introduced the Philippine Scientific Earth Observation Micro-Satellite (PHL-Microsat) Program on Mar. 10, a P840 million initiative that aims to “build, launch and effectively utilize micro-satellite technology for multi-spectral, high precision earth observation.”

NIMBB student wins top prize in international competition

(May 15)—Liezel U. Tamon, a senior Molecular Biology and Biotechnology student, won the prestigious 2015 Sanger Institute Prize Competition.
Instituted in 2004 by theWellcome Trust Sanger Institute (WTSI), a world leader in genomic research, the annual competition offers the winner “a 3-month internship with the WTSI to experience the very cutting edge of genomic research.”
