Published by the UP Press, the books, “Philippine Modernities: Music, Performing Arts, and Language, 1880 to 1941” edited by Dr. Jose S. Buenconsejo, former CMu dean, and “Saysay Himig: A Sourcebook On Philippine Music History, 1880-1914” edited by Prof. Arwin Q. (MAY 24)—A new facility for weather forecasting at the UPD College of Science, Institute of Environmental Science and Meteorology (IESM) was inaugurated on Mar 23. The Synoptic Laboratory serves as a laboratory room for meteorology, oceanography and climate graduate courses like Meteorology 203 – Methods of Analytical Meteorology and Oceanography, Meteorology 212 – Climate Monitoring and Prediction, Meteorology 222 – Satellite Meteorology and Meteorology 234 – Numerical Weather Prediction. UPD student wins International Public Speaking stint

(May 24) — Johanne Jazmin Tan Jabines, a 20-year-old third year BS Business Administration and Accountancy student from the UP Dilliman Virata School of Business (VSB), won the 38th International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC) held May 18. The IPSC is the largest public speaking competition in the world established by the English-Speaking Union (ESU) in 1980.
