1st ikot driver’s last ride

Irineo Odoy, known as the pioneer of UP Diliman’s (UPD) iconic Ikot jeepney route, passed away at 5 p.m. of April 12. He was 99. According to his grandson, Gerardo Lopez, Odoy succumbed to pneumonia. The UP Fighting Maroons opened the second round with a win against the National University (NU) Bulldogs, 84-76, in the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) Season 84 men’s basketball tournament on April 12 at the Mall of Asia Arena. At the recent international virtual conference, “Counter-Mapping the City,” that the UP Diliman (UPD) Department of Geography (DGeog) organized, a participatory three-dimensional mapping (P3DM) of Quezon City (QC) barangays was presented by geography professor Emmanuel Garcia. In his presentation “P3DM in the City,” Garcia found that P3DM facilitates dialogues among community stakeholders. However, he pointed out that the community needs to recognize P3DM’s potential and realize its role in reducing disaster risks for it to be truly useful. UP wins, closes first round

The UP Fighting Maroons ended the first round of the UAAP (University Athletic Association of the Philippines) Season 84 men’s basketball tournament with a breathtaking win, 83-76, against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws on April 9 at the Mall of Asia Arena. The team’s win over FEU came only a couple of days after UP beat the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers to a thrilling-win, 61-59, on April 7. Prior to the Thursday game, both UP and DLSU had an identical 4-1 win-loss record.
