UP Cherubim and Seraphim hits gold with virtual concert
The UP Cherubim and Seraphim (UPCS) turns 50 this year.
To celebrate its golden year, UP’s official children’s choir will hold a virtual concert, “Aurea Carmina” (Golden Songs) to be streamed live on its official Facebook page (@UP Cherubim & Seraphim) on September 25, 7 p.m.

UP Law launches literary folio
After combing through over 90 entries, the UP College of Law (CL) revealed the contributors to its “first ever UP Law Literary Folio in the time of COVID-19.”
To choose the works to be published in the online folio titled “Dito sa UP Law: Many Voices, One Community,” CL held a competition earlier this year among its students, REPS, administrative staff, and faculty. On August 27, the College announced the 11 chosen, original works.

Mabesa, honored with Ani ng Dangal
The late Antonio “Tony” Ocampo Mabesa, UP Diliman (UPD) College of Arts and Letters (CAL) professor emeritus and actor, was among the 63 recipients of the 2021 Ani ng Dangal from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
The Ani ng Dangal (“Harvest of Honors”) is given to Filipino artists (individual or groups) who earned top honors in international events. This year’s ceremony was streamed live on the NCCA Facebook page on August 15.

Modernizing RP maritime transport
The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) recently entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with UP Diliman (UPD) to bring science and technology innovations to the Philippine maritime industry.
The MOA signing ceremony was held on Aug. 17 via Zoom and streamed live on DOST-PCIEERD’s (Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development) official Facebook (FB) page. UPD suspends on-site work, classes on July 26
UPD-Announcement-2021-s.19
The UP Diliman (UPD) Office of the Chancellor declared July 26, 2021, Monday, as a day for recharging and recovery for all units as a result of the heavy rains and flooding brought by inclement weather. All office engagements and transactions will be through a work-from-home (WFH) arrangement. Consequently, all remote learning activities are also suspended.
UPD shall resume all on-site work and remote learning activities on July 27, 2021, Tuesday.

Team VSB is IMA student competition champ
Team Fighting Balloons of the UP Virata School of Business (VSB) was declared the first grand champion of the 2021 Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Student Case Competition Global Finals last Jul. 10 via Zoom.
The Fighting Balloons beat the teams from India and Romania.
Fighting Balloons, composed of Nicole Chelsey Pua, Clarizze Faye Mondoy, Von Salosagcol, Isaiah Inocencio and Jamila Domingo, are all 3rd year BS BA and BS BAA students. The team analyzed the business case of a hypothetical Indian textile wholesaler, and presented their management case analysis, recommendations and plans.
