UPD holds 1st history undergrad colloquium
Fourteen undergraduate history majors at UP Diliman (UPD) made history themselves by presenting their research at Defying Gravity, the first colloquium for undergraduate history majors.
In a correspondence with UPDate Online, Ma. Mercedes G. Planta, PhD, professor at the UPD Department of History (DHist) and the colloquium organizer, explained that the event was a platform for the undergraduate senior history majors to “present their original to a formal, scholarly audience.”

UPD grad tops Master Plumber Licensure exam
A UP Diliman (UPD) alumnus emerged as the top examinee of the February 2025 Master Plumbers Licensure Examination. The University had 12 successful examinees, with four in the top 10.
Rowill Christian Rempillo led the successful examinees with an 87.10% rating. The other Top 10 placers from UPD are Marian Chloe Espina (fifth place, 85.5%), Rafaella Leonida (sixth place, 85.30%), and Jeremie Gabrielle Gregorio (10th place, 84.80%).

PRE December 2024 issue, now online
The Philippine Review of Economics (PRE) Volume LXI, No. 2 is now available online.
The latest issue has seven articles. The articles were presentations in a roundtable discussion on industrial policy on Oct. 17-18, 2024, and then revised for publication. Each article was followed by comments from the discussants on the said roundtable discussion.

UPD tops LEPT-elementary level
All UP Diliman (UPD) College of Education (CEd) examinees of the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT)-elementary level passed, with two occupying the first and 10th highest place of passers.

Alyssa Jeanne C. Tamondong was one of the first placers at the LEPT-elementary level with a 94.00% passing rate, while Jasmin Marie M. Pioquinto was one of the 10th placers with a 92.20% passing rate.

DCRes conducts 8th NCRC
The UP Diliman College of Mass Communication (CMC) Department of Communication Research (DCRes) successfully hosted the 8th National Communication Research Conference (NCRC) with the theme Blueprints and Imprints: The UN Sustainable Development Goals in Communication and Media Research at the De La Salle University (DLSU) Manila from Nov. 22 to 23.

UPFI and Co Family formalize scholarship grant
The UP Foundation, Inc. (UPFI) and the Co Family recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) formally establishing the Rosalinda Gan Ne Choa Scholarship Grant.
This scholarship is intended for UP Diliman (UPD) students enrolled in an undergraduate degree under the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics strand, and not yet a beneficiary of another private scholarship.

UPD gets 100% in latest mining engineer licensure examination
UP Diliman (UPD) excelled in the October and November 2024 Mining Engineers Licensure Examination, landing squarely on the top spot among the top-performing schools with a 100% passing rate and four examinees entering the top 10.

UPD tops 2024 geologist exams
All 50 examinees from UP Diliman (UPD) passed the November 2024 Geologist Licensure Examinations (GLE), giving the University a 100% passing rate and making it the lone top-performing school for this round of examinations.

CHE dominates nutritionist-dieticians licensure exam
Graduates from the UP Diliman College of Home Economics (CHE) Department of Food Science and Nutrition (DFSN) dominated the November 2024 Nutritionist-Dietitians Licensure Examination (NDLE), achieving a 100% passing rate, with examinees landing in all but one of the top 10 rankings.
