UPD prof is new PH rep to APTA

Raymund Gerard I. Guerrero, an assistant professor at the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Home Economics (CHE), has been named the new Philippine representative to Asia Pacific Tourism Association (APTA).

According to their website, APTA is “an internationally acclaimed association in the field of tourism and hospitality” and is one of the largest tourism-hospitality associations in the Asia Pacific. It holds an annual conference and publishes the Asia Pacific Journal of Tourism Research, a journal listed in the Social Science Citation Index.

Guerrero joined the CHE Department of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institution Management (DHRIM) in 2002 as a lecturer. A year later, he became a full-time faculty member of the department. Before joining the academe, he worked with the Westin Philippine Plaza (now Sofitel Philippine Plaza) occupying different positions at the Front Office Department.

Guerrero earned from UPD his bachelor’s degrees in 1988 (philosophy), and 1991 (hotel restaurant administration), respectively. In 2002, he finished his Master’s in Business Administration, also from UPD.
