UP Diliman (UPD) recently entered into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. (AFI) for a scholarship grant.

Through the Future Leaders, AFI’s scholarship program, 12 undergraduate students will receive scholarship assistance beginning the first semester of the Academic Year 2024-2025.

According to the MOA, the grantees will receive a monthly stipend of PHP 6,000, a one-time provision for gadget worth PHP20,000, and a board review subsidy worth PHP 15,000. The AFI may also provide the grantees learning sessions and internships, among others. Should a grantee graduate with a Latin honor, the AFI will provide additional financial assistance as incentive.

The MOA further states that to qualify for the scholarship, an applicant “must have obtained a general weighted average of at least 2.0 or better with no grade of 5.0 or unremoved 4.0 or INC. in the semester immediately preceding the application, must be enrolled in 15 units at the time of the award of the grant and maintains the full load each semester, and must not be a recipient of any scholarship grant.”

The MOA was signed by UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II and AFI Chief Operating Officer Maria Remedios Dominique Mapa-Suplido on July 15. Witnessing the signing were Marielle Antoinette H. Soza, officer-in-charge of the UPD Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Jowelle Ann R. Cruz of the AFI Future Leaders.
