UPMV K9 celebrates 7th anniversary
Not even a light drizzle could dampen the spirits of those who came to celebrate with the UP-Metro Manila Development Authority-UP Vanguard, Inc. K9 Corps (UPMV K9) as they turn seven this year.
Guests and well-wishers took part in BARKada Festival, a whole-day celebration featuring pet vaccinations, a blood donation drive, and lectures on pet care and disaster preparedness.

Lady Maroons Shuttlers is UAAP Season 87 champion
The UP Women’s Badminton Team has dethroned the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Shuttlers with a 3-1 victory at the University Athletics Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 Women’s Badminton Tournament Finals.

Held on Oct. 30 at the Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall in Manila, the UP Women’s Badminton Team brought UP its first gold medal this UAAP season.

DUP stages Nanay Bangis
As its first offering for its 47th theatre season, the Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas (DUP) stages Nanay Bangis, a Rody Vera adaptation of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children.
According to DUP, Nanay Bangis “tells the story of a mother who loses her children to the conflict between the MNLF and the Philippine army from 1971 to 1981.”
The play directed by J. William Herbert Sigmund Go features Ge Malacaman Villamil as Nanay Bangis together with Air Paz, Rona Rostata, and Fred Layno.

UP clobbers ADMU
It was a resounding victory for the UP Men’s Basketball Team (UPMBT) in their second round battle against the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles, 75-47, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 men’s basketball tournament on Oct. 30 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

UPD tops electronics engineers and electronics technicians licensure exams
Graduates from the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering Institute (EEEI) occupied seven of the top spots in the October 2024 Electronics Engineers Licensure Examination.

UPD tops metallurgical engineers licensure exam
Graduates from the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Engineering Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering (DMMME) occupied all but one of the 10 highest spots in the October 2024 Metallurgical Engineers Computer-Based Licensure Examination.

A strong endgame by the UP Fighting Maroons Men’s Basketball Team (UPMBT) repulsed the last-ditch effort of the Adamson University (AdU) Soaring Falcons, 70-59, in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 87 men’s basketball tournament on Oct. 27 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

DHist conference reflects on galleon trade, Baler siege
At the opening of the two-day 22nd Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day Conference, UP Diliman (UPD) Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II said the annual activity “marks two decades of reflection on the enduring relationship between the Philippines and Spain.”
“The implications of this global connectivity still resonate in our modern legal and political frameworks,” Vistan said. He added that he was particularly pleased that the conference “will shed light” on the role “of Philippine-Spanish relations in the shaping of our legal system.”
