UP prevails over FEU
The UP Fighting Maroons posted a double victory against the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws in Season 87 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) basketball tournament.
The UP Men’s Basketball Team (UPMBT) drove back the FEU Tamaraws’ late game surge, 86-78, while the UP Women’s Basketball Team (UPWBT) outclassed the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 76-61. The games were both held on Nov. 17 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

UPD notched ARTA RCS Silver Award anew
UP Diliman (UPD) is once again a recipient of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) Report Card Survey (RCS) Silver award after earning a very satisfactory rating (90-94% bracket) in the 2023 RCS 2.0 cycle.

UPPI turns 60
A festive mood filled the Atencio-Libunao Hall as the UP Population Institute (UPPI) celebrated its 60th anniversary on Nov. 8 with a grand celebration.
Established in 1964, UPPI is “the only academic institution in the Philippines offering graduate-level programs in demography and population studies.” Currently a unit under the UPD College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, UPPI “plays a crucial role in analyzing population-related issues in collaboration with government and international partners.”

Balela wins NSTW Outstanding Research and Development Award
Mary Donnabelle L. CFA highlights art’s role in IP struggles
In recognition of the Indigenous Peoples (IPs) Month, the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Fine Arts (CFA) hosted the two-week exhibit Crossing Rivers: Indigenous Struggles and Cultural Collaborations (Crossing Rivers). The event was made possible through cultural collaborations with the Dumagat communities in Dingalan, Aurora, the Aurora Artist Residency Program and Space (AARPS), and Creative Australia, the Australian government’s principal arts investment and advisory body.

WPS brings arts and sciences together
Kanlungan at Kasarinlan: An Arts and Science Exhibit on the West Philippine Sea (Kanlungan at Kasarinlan), recently opened at the UP Diliman (UPD) Marine Science Institute (MSI) Marine Biodiversity Resources and Information System (MBRIS) building.
The exhibit showcased the West Philippine Sea’s (WPS) rich marine biodiversity, the fight of every Filipino for its sovereign rights, the country’s efforts in resolving conflicts through peaceful resolutions, and the collective efforts in protecting the country’s natural heritage.
