Understanding grave markers
(MAY 10) — Can grave markers ‘talk’? Apparently, they can. And they say a lot.
Archaeologist Prof. Grace Barretto-Tesoro, PhD, of the Archaeological Studies Program (ASP) shared what stories grave markers tell as she discussed her study “What can we learn from grave markers?” at the conference via Zoom Of Crosses and ‘Culture.’

Santelices, 59
Prof. Oscar Yoshihiro S. Santelices, table tennis coach and varsity sports director of the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Human Kinetics (CHK), passed away on May 10 after succumbing to COVID-19. He was 59.
Coach Oskie, as Santelices was fondly called, will be remembered for his accomplishments and personality which endeared him to his professors, students, co-athletes, co-faculty and friends within and outside the world of sports.

UP Diliman COVID-19 Task Force calls for suspension of intellectual-property rules on COVID-19 vaccines and treatments
We, members of the University of the Philippines Diliman COVID-19 Task Force and other members of the UPD community, join the growing number of people worldwide who call for the temporary suspension of patent rights and intellectual-property rules that hinder the Philippines and other developing countries from mass-producing COVID-19 vaccines to save lives and protect their people from the ravages of the pandemic.

A team of UPD students is vying for a spot in the finals roster of the 29th edition of L’Oréal Brandstorm, an international innovation competition for students.
Team Collove, composed of students John Cagape, (3rd year BS ChE, College of Engineering), Jamila Domingo (3rd year BSBAA, Cesar E. A. Virata School of Business) and Alyssa Facundo (3rd year BS OT, UP Manila), was recently named as one of two national champions in the L’Oréal Brandstorm 2021 PH National Finals.
