UP Virata School of Business’ (VSB) Fighting Balloons was declared grand champion in the 2021 Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) Asia Pacific Student Case Competition.
The Fighting Balloons team, composed of Nicole Chelsey Pua, Clarizze Faye Mondoy, Von Salosagcol, Isaiah Inocencio, and Jamila Domingo, analyzed the business case “Should Star Textile Cut Out the Intermediaries?” of an Indian textile wholesaler, and presented virtually their management case analysis, recommendations and plans.
The IMA Asia-Pacific Student Case Competition aims to help students develop and strengthen their financial and accounting skills. The competition focuses on topical accounting and finance problems which encourage students to apply their technical and theoretical skills in a practical setting.
The UP VSB team, coached by Prof. Mikhael Anjelu Magana, competed against a team from the Thammasat University of Thailand and two teams from the National University of Singapore.
The team will now proceed to the Grand Finals set in July at Dubai, UAE. They will compete against other regional winners from Europe, India and the Middle East.
