The UP Diliman Office of the Chancellor, through the Technical Working Group on Biodiversity Management in UP Diliman (TWGBM UPD), will virtually launch the “Biodiversity Management Handbook” tomorrow, October 26, at 1 p.m. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube (https://bit.ly/BuhayIlangsaUPD).

The launching dubbed as “Buhay Ilang sa UPD: Launch of the ‘Biodiversity Management Handbook’” will feature a roundtable discussion by TWGBM UPD members on selected campus biodiversity issues and how the handbook may provide guidance in addressing them.

The TWGBM UPD is a multidisciplinary group created by former chancellor Michael L. Tan in July 2018. One of its tasks is to craft a set of policies and guidelines to help UPD administrative units in protecting the University’s biodiversity.

The handbook contains information on the environmental condition of UPD and discusses the three principles that UPD must adhere to in managing its biodiversity. Issues discussed under these principles range from university planning and habitat management to wildlife protection and waste management.
