UP Law is SEARR 2022 champ

The UP Law Stetson Team is the champion of the 26th Stetson Annual International Environmental Moot Court Competition Southeast Asian Regional Rounds (SEARR) held virtually from Jan. 24 to 28.

UP defeated the Singapore Management University Yong Pung How School of Law in the final round. This year’s theme is “Protected Areas and Armed Conflict.” The team was also the Best Memorial second runner-up.

The UP Law Stetson Team is composed of Raymond Shappit, Jasmin Althea Siscar, Isis Valencia, Micah Ecarma, and Louise Michiko Lokin. Shappit was declared best oralist in the final round and the 5th best oralist overall, while Lokin was named 4th best oralist.

The competition “is the most prestigious international law competition which focuses on important global environmental challenges,” according to the SEARR Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/StetsonSEARR),

The UP team will represent Southeast Asia in the international finals and will compete against the champions of the regional rounds in Africa, East and South Asia, Europe, the United Kingdom and Ireland, Latin America, and North America. The finals will be held from April 7-9 at the Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida.
