Of the 80 faculty members appointed as UP Artists under the UP Arts Productivity System (APS), 60 are from UP Diliman (UPD).
According to the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs website, the APS “is aimed at encouraging outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarship for national development. Deserving artists and arts scholars in the faculty and research staff will be conferred the title ‘UP Artist’ with a monetary award, the UP Arts Productivity Award.”
Artists conferred with the title UP Artist I will receive PHP150,000 per year. Meanwhile, artists with the title UP Artist II will receive PHP200,000 annually, and artists with the title UP Artist III will receive PHP250,000 annually.
According to the Opisina ng Faculty Regent Facebook page, the UP Board of Regents approved the appointments of three batches of UP Artists (2020-2022, 2021-2023, 2022-2024) at its 1390th meeting on May 31.
Sixteen UP Artists from UPD are from Batch 2020-2022, 27 from Batch 2021-2023, and 17 from Batch 2022-2024.
From batch 2020-2022, 12 are UP Artists I and four are UP Artists II. Batch 2021-2023 has 14 UP Artists I, nine UP Artists II, and four UP Artists III. Meanwhile, batch 2022-2024 has 12 UP Artists I, four UP Artists II, and one UP Artist III.
Of the UP Artists from UPD, 31 are from the College of Arts and Letters, 16 are from the College of Fine Arts, six are from the College of Mass Communication, and four are from the College of Music. The College of Architecture, Asian Center, and the UP Integrated School each have one UP Artist.
