News of an incident in Pook Palaris involving several residents have been brought to our attention, alleging that one of them, an employee of the Philippine General Hospital, was evicted from his home due to discrimination against health workers.
Reports from investigations of Barangay UP Campus, the Office of Community Relations and in the March 21 complaint the alleged victim filed with the UP Diliman Police did not mention his occupation as the reason for his eviction, only the fact that a number of earlier domestic incidents had occurred between the health worker and his neighbors.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) is now looking into the incident as well as any possible violation of UPD guidelines on informal structures.
UP Diliman reiterates it is against all forms of discrimination; thus it is open to hearing statements from all sides of the issue.
