“This Division aims to promote research and development to a higher level of professionalism in order to be an efficient and effective partner of the government in finding solutions to current issues on the quality of life, literacy, politics, economy, and crime,” according to the NRCP website.

As its section chair, Florano will lead specialized research initiatives, promote evidence-informed policymaking, and translate scientific studies into actionable legislation and government administration.

NRCP is a government research organization under the Department of Science and Technology mandated to promote and support research that contributes to national development.

It bridges the gap between academic research and government operations and aims to develop and create state programs that are efficient, equitable, and responsive to the needs of the Filipino public.

Florano was director of the NCPAG Center for Policy and Executive Development from 2013 to 2019 and has been a consistent recipient of the One UP Professorial Chair Award in Public Administration (Environmental Governance) for Outstanding Teaching and Public Service since 2016.

He handles courses in research methods in public administration, program and project implementation, theories of administrative systems, and advanced methodology in administrative science. —With reports from NCPAG
