The UP Varsity Pep Squad (UP Pep) bagged the championship title for the All-Girl College Cheer Division at the 16th National Cheerleading Championship (NCC) that took place from March 25 to 26 at the Ynares Sports Arena, Pasig City.

The NCC is an annual cheerleading competition for elementary to college cheerleading teams from schools all around the country. They also have a coed elite division open to participants of all ages.
UP Pep’s all-girl college cheer team earned a total of 311 points, beating De La Salle University’s Animo Squad which garnered 283.5 points. The breakdown of their points is 60.5 for basic elements; 56 for tumbling; 67.5 for stunts; 62 for tosses; 66 for pyramids; and one point deduction for a minor mistake. The maximum number of points possible for each category is 80.
This is the team’s first appearance in the NCC after a 16-year hiatus.
UP Pep also competed in the open coed group stunts division and open partner stunts division, where they finished in third place.
