The steady increase in the number of active COVID-19 cases in the country, particularly at the National Capital Region (NCR), and the present scarcity of vacant beds for patients needing hospitalization is indeed alarming.
We, appeal to our fellow UP alumni and friends, to donate mattresses (single, 22), electric fans (22), pillows, bedding, alcohol, disinfectants, hand soaps, detergents, paper towels, cleaning supplies or cash to Silungang Molave (SiM), our isolation facility on campus.
SiM is being prepared to accept more mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 positive cases, and contacts or suspects (with COVID-19 – related symptoms but not yet confirmed on RT-PCR testing) who cannot effectively isolate at home.
Interested donors may contact Dr. Jesusa Catabui (CP No. 09215554477/ 09272540360, jtcatabui@up.edu.ph) or Ms. Perlynn Guevarra (CP. No. 09178357875, Silungang Molave Landline – 89818500, loc 4611).
UP campus residents or constituents (students, staff and dependents) are priority clients. However, we have opened our doors even to non-UP relatives of our employees who are being turned away by nearby isolation facilities because they are already full and overcrowded. This would mean 22 additional rooms to accommodate an overflow of cases especially in the male positive ward which is always fully occupied.
Thank you and keep safe.
