On the day the whole nation was remembering the declaration of Martial Law 54 years ago, UP Diliman (UPD) lost one of its own. Rubicon Rodrigo Soberano, assistant professor at the UPD Department of Philosophy (DPhilo), passed away on Sept. 21.
Widely known in the UPD community for his rigorous intellect and distinct teaching style, he was honored by his department for his years of dedicated service to the University and to the discipline of Philosophy.
Expressing its sympathies to his family and friends, DPhilo simultaneously acknowledged Soberano’s contributions to the “discourse and interface of Symbolic Logic with other contemporary issues.” He taught introductory and specialized logic courses and authored and presented various papers, including Disarming Stove’s Paradox: In Defense of Formal Logic.
Soberano earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Master of Arts from UPD.
