UPD sweeps metallurgical engineers licensure exam

All 14 examinees from the Department of Mining, Metallurgical, and Materials Engineering (DMMME) of the UP Diliman (UPD) College of Engineering passed the October 2023 Metallurgical Engineers Licensure Examination, making UPD the only university with a 100% passing rate. Furthermore, six of the examinees landed in the top eight.

The 14 successful examinees were led by Aaron Dave Tomas (87.95%) who ranked first. He was followed by Andre Victor Suarez (96.65%) at second place, Sarah Marcelin Evasco (85.15%) at third, Annsherina Milleret Cruz (80.2%) and Lloyd Nathanael Reyes (80.2%) at seventh place, and Mary Nyah Alcantara (80.1%) at eighth.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that 39 of the 64 examinees passed the computer-based and paper-and-pencil examination given by the Board of Metallurgical Engineering in the National Capital Region and Cagayan de Oro.

Available PRC data show that since 2010, around 90% of graduates from the DMMME passed their licensure exam. The University’s most stellar performance was during the August 2013 examinations, where UPD had a 100% passing rate and occupied all the top 10 slots.
