To further enhance teaching and have a more inclusive classroom environment, the UP Diliman (UPD) Office for the Advancement of Teaching (OAT) invites UPD faculty members to the seminar Helping SWANs Take Flight on April 15 and 22, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Bocobo Hall.
Organized in cooperation with the Special Education Cluster faculty of the UPD College of Education, the event will focus on teaching and supporting students with additional needs (SWANs).
OAT Director Ivy DC. Suan, in her memo, said, “The course will focus on basic knowledge of and inclusive classroom strategies in addressing the behavioral-psychosocial and academic needs of students with developmental disabilities,” like attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder, autism, and deafness, to name a few. The memo further stated that the course “involves offline exercises with face-to-face workshops and opportunities for interaction with co-participants and facilitators.”
Due to limited slots, OAT can only accommodate 40 to 50 participants on a first come, first served basis. Faculty members who are interested in completing the course may register here on or before April 5.
