In an email to UPDate Online, Cruz’s wife, lawyer Tzeitel Christine DG. Cruz, said that he “was an awardee of the One UP Faculty Grant for Teaching and Public Service (2022-2024)” and became a full-time faculty at the college in 2006.

“He is well-loved by his colleagues for his gentleness, patience, kindness, truthfulness, for his beautiful voice, and his beautiful heart. His students, who are his legacy, describe him as an older brother whose passion for teaching is exemplary. Rainier was a devoted family man whose love and care for his wife… and their only child, Raizelle Therese DG. Cruz, always remained a priority above all else,” she added.

UPD is forever grateful for their services to the University and to their respective units.
