COE, CMu to stage concert for students

UP Diliman (UPD), through the College of Engineering (COE) and College of Music (CMu), recently formalized a partnership with an alumni foundation to raise funds for the benefit of UPD students.

The two colleges signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the UP Engineering Research & Development Foundation, Inc. (UPERDFI) on Sept. 16 at the Melchor Hall Faculty Lounge in preparation for the benefit concert CONNECTIONS: The Engineering of Music Concert (CONNECTIONS).

CONNECTIONS, to be staged on November 15, will showcase the talents of the UPD choral groups and engage alumni, students, and the broader community in a cause-oriented initiative.

The concert’s net proceeds will be equally divided between the COE and CMu to support their respective Student Well-being Programs.

In a related development, the UPERDFI partnered with the UP Industrial Engineering (IE) Club through a memorandum of agreement (MOA), designating the club as the lead student organization responsible for the concert’s marketing and promotional services. This would ensure the maximum publicity and exposure of the event to key stakeholder markets.

Present at the MOU and MOA signing were UPD Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jose Carlo G. de Pano representing UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II; COE Dean Maria Antonia N. Tanchuling; CMu Dean Ma. Patricia B. Silvestre; UPERDFI President Angelito D. Bernardo; UPERDFI Chairman Jose Jerome Pascual III; CMu officials; and members of the IE Club.
