The UP Women’s Volleyball Team (UPWVT) secured their second straight win in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 88 volleyball tournament on Feb. 22 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The UPWVT clawed back from a two-set deficit to conquer the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Lady Eagles via reverse sweep, 17-25, 19-25,25-22, 25-23, 16-14. It was a tight game in the fifth and final set. With the score tied at 14 apiece, UPWVT’s Fina Ali scored on a cross-court spike, before Niña Ytang came up with a solid block on ADMU’s Zesy Pacia to seal the win for the UP Fighting Maroons.
Ytang led the UPWVT with 15 points, while Irah Jaboneta scored 14 points.
UPWVT’s next game against the De La Salle University is on Feb. 25, 3 p.m. at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
