UPDIO attends social media seminar

To learn more about enhancing the University’s social media presence, the UP Diliman Information Office (UPDIO) joined other members of the University’s Information Network at the recently held Social Media Enablement Session.

Organized by the UP Office of the Vice President for Public Affairs (OVPPA), the seminar’s goal was to amplify UP’s social media presence across multiple platforms. The event featured social media communications expert Arlene Burgos, Chief Content Officer of Inquirer.net.

In their email to UPDate Online, the OVPPA described the Social Media Enablement Session as a platform to “equip staff members with strategies to effectively communicate UP’s initiatives, amplify key messages, and foster meaningful interactions with our diverse audiences.” In addition, the email also noted that the event provided the participants with “a great opportunity to connect with peers in the industry and contribute to shaping the future direction of UP’s social media engagement.”

Haidee C. Pineda, head of the UPDIO Media and Public Relations Section (MPRS), said the event enabled the MPRS “to augment our knowledge on the various uses and importance of social media platforms and how to administer social media accounts. We also learned how to effectively use social media for community building.”

Pineda, along with the members of the MPRS and the UPD Alumni Relations were among the more than 50 participants who attended the hyflex event on April 8 at the UPD Institute for Small-Scale Industries Room 300.
