UPD, ZamBaSulTa HEIs ink MOU

UP Diliman (UPD), through the Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the ZamBaSulta (Zamboanga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi) higher education institutions (HEIs) on Oct. 15 at the Board of Regents Room in Quezon Hall.

This will establish a comprehensive partnership for the advancement of scholarly work in research and development, and communities’ skills development through extension work.

The MOU focuses on enhancing pedagogy, community development, and education in fishing communities, language vitality mapping of indigenous languages, peace and development, as well as strengthening research and proposal-writing competencies among the HEIs’ faculty members.

The ZamBaSulTa HEIs are the Basilan State College (BSC), Mindanao State University–Buug, Mindanao State University–Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO), Sulu State University (SSU), and Western Mindanao State University (WMSU).

Present at the event were UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II, UPD Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Director Jowima Ang-Reyes, BSC Social Work Department Chairperson Heidi Faith H. Cruz, MSU-Buug Vice Chancellor for Research and Extension Rovy M. Banguis, MSU-TCTO Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, SSU President Charisma S. Ututalum, and WMSU President Ma. Carla A. Ochotorena.
