UP Diliman (UPD) recently inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Rafael Palma Lodge No. 147 (RPL147) to establish a scholarship grant for students of the UPD Institute of Civil Engineering (ICE).
According to the UPD Office of Scholarship and Grants (OSG), the MOA on RPL147 Scholarship Program is the first time the University has partnered with a Masonic Lodge as a scholarship grant donor.
The RPL 147 Scholarship Program, implemented by the OSG, will support one regular third-year ICE student every semester.

To qualify, applicants must be natural-born Filipino citizens enrolled as regular third-year civil engineering students taking at least 15 units at the time of the award. They must have no disciplinary record, have passed the UP College Admission Test, and come from families with an annual gross income not exceeding PHP500,000.
The scholarship grant provides a one-time book allowance and a monthly stipend for five months.
The MOA was signed on Oct. 15 at Quezon Hall by UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan II and RPL147 Worshipful Master Jimilor N. Jimenez. OSG Officer-in-Charge Christine C. Hernandez and Roy Pangilinan, RPL147 former master’s guild president, served as witnesses. Also present was Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Jose Carlo G. de Pano.
