UP tops 2025 Bar examinations

UP has topped the 2025 Bar Examinations.

The Supreme Court released the good news on Jan. 7, citing Jhenroniel Rhey T. Sanchez of the UP College of Law (UP Law), placing first of all Bar passers, with a 92.7% rating. Not only that, five more UP Law alumni occupied spots in the top 20.

Meanwhile, UP Law’s Marie Shantelle A. Sarmiento took the eighth place (90.8750%), followed by Jusmin Teriann A. Yap (10th place, 90.3625%), Alfrancis B. Cabungcal (13th place, 89.8%), Ignacio Lorenzo DC. Villareal (15th place, 89.7%), and Chinzen T. Viernes (19th place, 89.35%).

Of the 11,420 takers, the 2025 Bar Examinations had 5,594 passers. According to the Supreme Court Facebook page, this translates to a 48.98% passing rate.

The examinations were held last Sept. 7, 10, and 14 in 14 local testing centers in Baguio City, Cebu City, Davao City, Iligan City, Iloilo City, Makati City, Manila City, Muntinlupa City, Naga City, Pasay City, Quezon City, Tacloban City, and Taguig City.

The oath-taking and roll-signing ceremonies are scheduled on Feb. 6 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.
