The latest issue features the works of UPD REPS (researchers, extension, and professional staff) and student researchers on topics addressing important issues in various disciplines such as community development, cultural studies, and public health. The recent REPS colloquium celebrating the outstanding accomplishments, as well as OVCRD services that support the research process, was also highlighted in the magazine’s latest issue.

UPD Chancellor Edgardo Carlo L. Vistan, in his message, lauded the researchers for their dedication in championing sustainability and social equity, and for developing solutions to pressing societal issues and concerns.

“We did not stop at our laboratories. We managed to reach several communities and even the marginalized. Our goal was not only to provide essential knowledge but also to give hope and remind people how research can be a powerful tool for positive change,” Vistan said.

Meanwhile, Carl Michael F. Odulio, PhD, vice chancellor for research and development, underscored the role of REPS and students in leading UPD’s research endeavors.

“More than the recognition, Saliksikat is about sharing, sharing your research with the community, making knowledge accessible and creating ripples of impact,” said Odulio.

The researchers or their representatives were given the opportunity to share their experiences and personal insights on their research journeys during the event’s fast talk segment.

The event also featured a poster exhibit showcasing basic information about the featured research work in the magazine.

Booths from the RDO, the UPD Technology Transfer and Business Development Office, and two UPD research review bodies: the UPD Research Ethics Board and the UPD Task Force on Research Integrity, were also set up to assist the UPD community with their research endeavors.

Saliksikat is a biannual publication that highlights UPD research and creative work, innovations, and service to the people. The issue release was held on June 30 at the second floor of The Learning Commons, College of Engineering Library II.
