Close to 70 UP Diliman (UPD) faculty members and REPS participated in the recently-concluded hybrid seminar on artificial intelligence (AI) and academic integrity organized by the UPD Office for Advancement of Teaching (OAT).

In an email to UPDate Online, OAT Director Ivy D.C. Suan stated that the seminar’s intention was “to provide a venue discussion on the use of AI in the university, while ensuring academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning, and research.”
Held on April 30 at Bocobo Hall Lecture Room, the seminar allowed participants to raise questions and share their experiences regarding the use of AI in academic settings during the open forum.
Resource speakers included Diego S. Maranan, PhD, associate professor of art, media, and design at UP Open University (UPOU), and Ria Mae H. Borromeo, PhD, associate professor of computer science and information systems at UPOU, who discussed UPOU’s experiences with AI and related policies.
Meanwhile, Director Miguel Francisco M. Remolona of the Interactive Learning Center Diliman presented the AI Policy Survey from UPD units at the seminar.
Also present at the seminar was UPD Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Maria Vanessa P. Lusung-Oyzon. The event was an initiative of the UPD Artificial Intelligence Policy Committee.
