The first Filipino to win an Olympic gold medal will be teaching at UP Diliman (UPD).
Hidilyn Diaz-Naranjo attended the Teaching Effectiveness Course (TEC) from Jan. 12 to 15 at the UP Diliman School of Economics in preparation for her teaching stint at the College of Human Kinetics (CHK).

Conducted by the UPD Office for the Advancement of Teaching, the TEC aims to assist new UPD faculty members and teaching assistants who want to enhance their teaching abilities.
As a first time CHK lecturer, she expressed nervousness and excitement on her upcoming teaching experience.
“Good thing na naka-attend ako nitong TEC. Nagkaroon ako ng idea kung paano iyong magiging approach ko sa pag-handle ng class. I am also thankful for my CHK colleagues’ support, they were there to cheer and help me,” said Diaz-Naranjo.

She emphasized the importance of raising awareness and educating the students and the general public about weightlifting. She hopes to integrate weightlifting into a broader Philippine sports education and is keen on fostering creativity and efficiency in her new learning environment.
“I want to educate more people para mas maraming makaintindi ng weightlifting, kasi ang weightlifting ay regular event na sa Palarong Pambansa,” she said.
Diaz-Naranjo will handle two PE 2 sections in weightlifting this second semester of AY 2025-2026.
