(APR. 24) — In an unprecedented move, the UP Diliman College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) will conduct its search for the next CSSP Dean completely online, beginning with its Call for Nominations today, Apr. 24 until May 6.
According to the Search Committee for the Next CSSP Dean, the move was made because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting nationwide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), which has again been extended to May15 in selected areas.
The term of Prof. Maria Bernadette L. Abrera, PhD, current CSSP dean, ends in July. A history professor, Abrera assumed the deanship in July 2017.
Nominees must have outstanding academic credentials, five years of satisfactory service to the University, commitment to the University and to CSSP, an unquestionable moral integrity, leadership qualities and administrative or managerial capability, and professional maturity.
Nominees must email the Search Committee Secretariat, Dr. Darlene Occeña-Gutierrez (dogutierrez@up.edu.ph) the following documents: a duly signed nomination letter indicating the name/s of the nominee/s and the justification for the nomination; the nominee’s curriculum vitae with a two-page summary; and the nominee’s signed letter of acceptance of the nomination, stating willingness to serve as Dean.
The deadline for submission of nominations is on May 6. Meanwhile, nominees must submit their vision and plans for CSSP on May 11. The nominees’ vision and plans will be presented and disseminated through various online platforms from May 12 to 15, followed by an online public forum on May 18.
The Search Committee will have an online Dialogue with the stakeholders from May 19 to 22, and interview the nominees by May 25.
The Search Committee will submit their report to the UP Diliman Chancellor on June 5.
