For his exceptional contributions to the country’s architectural education and heritage conservation, Gerard A. Lico, PhD was honored with the excellence award (academe category) at the 12th Philippine Federation of Professional Associations (PFPA) Excellence and Distinction Awards.

According to its website, the PFPA Excellence Award was established in 2005 to honor professionals who have made outstanding contributions to their respective fields and the development of the nation. The award recognizes individuals who have established new benchmarks in their industries, adhered to the highest ethical standards, and promoted their professions both locally and globally.
The academe category specifically acknowledges educators and researchers who have made significant strides in developing academic programs, innovating research, and demonstrating leadership in education.
A professor at the UP Diliman College of Architecture (CA), Lico has been with the college for more than 20 years. He is the current director of the CA Research Program Office and coordinator of the History, Theory, and Criticism Studio Laboratory.
A prolific researcher and author, Lico has received numerous awards and recognitions.

In addition, Nappy L. Navarra, a landscape architecture professor at the CA was also given the PFPA Distinction Award for his noteworthy works in landscape architecture.
Navarra is the current coordinator of the CA Integrated Graduate Program and the Environmental Landscape Studio Laboratory.
The awarding ceremony was held on Feb. 22 at the Ang Bahay ng Alumni.
