UP Asian Institute of Tourism organizes online panel discussion on Making Change for Women in Tourism.

To celebrate National Women’s Month 2021, and as part of UP Diliman’s Buwan ng Kababaihan, the Asian Institute of Tourism has been celebrating the achievements and experiences of women in the tourism industry throughout the whole of March 2021. The culminating activity for UPAIT’s month-long celebration will be an online panel discussion “Making Change for Women in Tourism” to be held on Friday, 26 March 2021, from 2:00 – 3:00 PM (Manila time). This will be an online conversation, co-organized with the Women’s Business Council of the Philippines (WomenBizPh) about the experiences and achievements of women in tourism, as well as the challenges that remain for the industry. The event will be live streamed via UPAIT’s YouTube channel (tinyurl.com/aitchannel). The livestreaming link will be posted on the UPAIT Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/UPAIT) as well.

The women participating in the panel represent a wide range of generations, advocacies, and
professional experiences:

  • Ms. Monette Iturralde-Hamlin, Chair of the Women’s Business Council of the Philippines
  • Director Karen Tiopes CESO III, Regional Director for Eastern Visayas of the Department
    of Tourism
  • Ms. Candice Ramos, youth advocate for Y-PEER Pilipinas, Inc. and co-proprietor of SEED
Travels, Inc. (a travel agency founded by UPAIT alumni), and
  • Prof. Juline Dulnuan, pioneering faculty at UPAIT who led the institutionalization of the
Institute’s now-mandatory course on Gender and Tourism
