CBA graduate named outstanding student of the Philippines

Raymund Siegfrid O. Li, a 2010 BS Business Administration and Accountancy summa cum laude graduate (G.W.A. 1.101) of University of the Philippines Diliman, is one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP)

The TOSP was established on June 19, 1961 by businessman and RFM Foundation Chairman Jose Concepcion Jr. to honor the students who “continue to be living examples of the Filipino youth.” This year’s awarding ceremonies were held at the Malacanang Palace on October 7, with no less than President Benigno Aquino III handing out the awards.

Li has received a number of distinctions during his matriculation at UP Diliman. Earlier in February, he was chosen as one of three recipients of UP Diliman’s  Gawad Chanselor Natatanging Mag-aaral, an award to recognize the best of its students.   

Li and his team, the UP Team CFA Philippines, won the championship in the 2010 Investment Research Contest held in Hongkong, where they beat not only the contingents from Asia, but also the participants from the highly esteemed Ivy League schools (i.e. Harvard, Yale, Stanford, MIT). In another competition, Li and his team were declared champion in the 2007 NF JPIA NCR Cup IX on Accounting for Partnerships & Corporations. His team also won the in the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Enterprise Challenge after conducting an in-depth analysis on real business cases in the pharmaceutical industry. 

Li headed the team that was the first runner up in the 11th FINEX Intercollegiate Finance Competition and in the 1st UP JPIA Finance Congress.

He served as the Philippine youth ambassador in the 2008 Rotary Youth Exchange Program in Cheon-an, South Korea, and was involved in various outreach activities with out-of-school children in Seoul.  Li was a member of the Student Council of the UP College of Business Administration (CBA), where he served as councilor for Finance and Operations. He was Vice President for Finance and Vice President for Creatives of the Philippine Junior Marketing Association (PJMA) and chairperson of UP Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (UP JPIA) External Affairs Committee in 2008.
