The Intel Complex for Sciences Innovation (ICSI), a 500-seat lecture hall inside the National Institute of Physics (NIP) Complex, was inaugurated November 5 in a simple ceremony that was attended by the NIP community as well as representatives from Intel.
The facility is a venue for science fairs and similar symposia as well as international scientific conferences.
The ICSI is equipped with a fast WiFi connection and High Lumens LCDs. It is envisioned to be a possible source of both income and means of promoting the field of science.
UPD Chancellor Sergio Cao, former General Manager of Intel Philippines Mr. Michael Wentling, CS Dean Ceasar Saloma and NIP Director Arnel Salvador presided over the inauguration.
According to Salvador, the ICSI is from the Intel Philippines, who donated some P20 million for its construction, a last investment before the company closed shop in the country in 2009.
