It was another important milestone for the Enterprise Program of Technopreneurship or Enterprise, on February 8 when it formally launched its new offices, attended by representatives from the academe, industry and its own graduates.
Enterprise is a sort of boot camp for those who want to start a new technology-based business, aiding them in acquiring the essential skills and preparing them for starting their own business through mentoring sessions conducted by resource persons from within the business community.
The incubator is located at the third and fourth floor of the National Engineering Center, where all the present and potential teams will be housed to give them office space and other facilities to start their fledgling enterprises.
After spending some time at Enterprise, the different businesses will be relocated to the University’s other larger business incubators located along C.P. Garcia Avenue and the newly built UP-Ayala Technohub.
One of the teams introduced at the event was Itemhound, a company that specializes in RFID, or radio-frequency identification, initially targeted at the niche market of sporting tags, such as identification strips for marathons (see photo).—AKR
