It was indeed a PercPec Combination between the UP Varsity Pep Squad and UP Percussion Ensemble, a percussion group from the College of Music, as they staged a back-to-back dance and music concert held on February 2 at the University Theater with an afternoon show at 3 p.m. and an evening show at 7 p.m.
The pep squad and percussion ensemble treated the audience to a heart thumping experience through a variety of performances such as the pep squad’s competition routines, Yoga routines, Michael Jackson dance medley (marimba-tumtum), contemporary dances, samba batucada, cymbalectomy, hiphop dance craze and jazz. An audio-visual presentation about the PercPep was also shown before the start of the program.
In addition, program hosts Via Antonio, Jeffrey Garcia and Jose Antonio Ignacio elicited loads of laughter and cheers from the audience through their crazy antics and stand-up comedy.
Chancellor Sergio S. Cao and Office for Initiatives in Culture and the Arts (OICA) director Professor Ruben D.F. Defeo delivered a special message and the welcome remarks, respectively.
PercPep was a produced and organized by the OICA.
