Teaching workshop for new faculty held

(October 25)—Some 50 new UPD faculty members came to the School of Labor and Industrial Relations for a Teaching Effectiveness Course workshop organized by the Office of the Director of Instruction (ODI) from Oct. 22-25.

The primary goal of the course was to enhance the participants’ competency in teaching by understanding what make up good teachers and effective teaching, and developing skills in the design, implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning.

The program of activities includes plenary sessions, workshops, active learning activities, reflection writing and teaching demonstration.

Among the resource persons were ODI head Prof. Portia P. Padilla, Prof. Ma. Vanessa Oyzon, Prof. Yolanda Ealdama, Prof. Marie Therese Bustos and Prof. Rosario Alonzo.

Some of the topics covered include test construction, learning assessment, learning design and gender sensitivity.—AKR
