The Philippines’ participation was thru the aegis of Gymnastics Association of the Philippines-Cheerleading Philippines (GAP-CP) under President Evan Alvia. Established in 1993, the GAP-CPF is the national governing arm for cheerleading and cheer dance in the Philippines and is affiliated with IFC and the AFC.
The UP Pep Squad, together with the San Beda Alabang Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad, were handpicked by GAP-CP to form part of the Team Pilipinas.
