UPD faculty in effective teaching course

(June 11, 2013)—Fifty-two UP Diliman faculty members, most of them newly-appointed, participated in the Teaching Effectiveness Course, May 27 to 31 at the School of Labor and Industrial Relations

The faculty members came from 10 participating UPD academic units, and the UP Information Technology Development Center (UPITDC), a UP System office.

The unit with the most number of participants was the College of Science (18), followed by the College of Home Economics (8), and the College of Arts and Letters (7).  The other academic units with participating faculty members were the College of Engineering (4), School of Statistics (4), College of Mass Communication (3), College of Education (2), College of Music (2), College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (2), and the Asian Institute of Tourism (1). UPITDC had one participant.

Conducted by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs-Office of the Director of Instruction (OVCAA-ODI), the 5-day course aims to enhance the teaching competency of each participating faculty member through understanding what make up good teachers and effective teaching.  Among the course resource speakers were former ODI directors Prof. Celia Adriano and Prof. Rosario Alonzo and current ODI director Prof. Portia Padilla.—MDJ
